A great wine starts in a great vineyard. At Parum Leo we select grapes from proven vineyards throughout Sonoma County, including our very own estate vineyard at the south end of Petaluma. Our wines benefit from the trademark characteristics of the area — the cool morning and evening fog broken by a few hours of the gentle Pacific sun, and the rich alluvial soil — all of which lay the groundwork for wines that are nuanced, agile, and lithe.
The Best of Sonoma County
Parum Leo Estate Vineyard
Our Certified Sustainable estate vineyard sits in the southern tip of the Petaluma Gap and features lots of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cab Franc. The Southeast facing vines sit on a 0-15% slope of red loam surface soil with rock and red sandy loam a foot below. The site benefits from the cooling winds of the Petaluma gap while being slightly protected by the hills behind, allowing it to get a bit of extra heat to ripen the fruit. The 20 year-old established vines require little watering with their deep roots that reach down to the water table, and our organic farming principles keep the vines pesticide- and herbicide- free.

PINOT HILL
Pinot Hill is a north facing site that sits several hundred feet above sea level. On a steep hill with shallow soil cover over hard rock, this vineyard requires care and attention for the vines to produce even small amounts of fruit, but we think it is worth it. The site’s proximity to the Petaluma Gap allows the tenacious fruit to stay cool for most of the morning and evening, warming up during the short bursts of mid-day sun.
Soils: Goldridge Sandy Loam underlain with Los Osos Clay
Appellation: Sonoma Coast
Average Temp During Growing Season: Daytime: 77.5°F Nighttime: 47.7°F
RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
Shaped by water, the Russian River Valley’s sand and clay-rich alluvial soils provide fertile ground for Pinot Noir. The Valley, with its hot days and foggy nights, is warmer than the Petaluma Gap, but cooler than nearby Napa Valley. The soil and climate here are ideal for the extended growing season that these thin-skinned grapes deserve. This wine brings together grapes from different parts of the appellation, allowing us to blend the best of this region.
Soils: Alluvial
